The disability services team provides advice and support to students in relation to disability. This includes (but is not limited to) help and support for students who have learning differences including dyslexia, long term medical conditions and neurodiversity.

Get the support you need 

The disability services team provides advice and support to students in relation to disability. This includes (but is not limited to) help and support for students who have learning differences including dyslexia, long term medical conditions and neurodiversity.  

There is a variety of support available to disabled students. The team offer a blend of phone, online and face to face appointments, to discuss and implement the support and reasonable adjustments you may need to be able to succeed at university, particularly during exam periods 


Arrange support for exams 

You may require additional support in your exams. This is referred to as Individual Exam Arrangements (IEA), which can typically include adjustments such as: 

  • having extra time to complete your exam 

  • a reader to support you in understanding what the exam tasks are 

  • a scribe to take down what you want to write for your answers  

  • having your own separate room to work in 

  • rest breaks to support your wellbeing 


To organise your Individual Exam Arrangements, you will need to: 

• contact the relevant Health and Wellbeing Team; book an appointment here  

• complete a data protection form and return it to 

• provide supporting evidence of how your disability/condition affects you during exams 


The IEA deadline dates for the 2021/2022 academic year are: 

  • December exam period - 11th October 2021 

  • April exam period - 14th February 2022 

  • August exam period - 13th June 2022

  • State whether you would like phone, online, or face to face under the ‘accessibility requirements’ box 

  • Where possible, bring along any evidence you have of a medical diagnosis

Appointments are available: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 4.00pm
